How Do I Apply For Membership?

Application hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Once you decide which department(s) you wish to apply for, complete the appropriate departmental application form and send it to the ACFC West office. Before submitting your application, you must complete the following requirements:
- Resume
- Motion Picture Industry Orientation (MPIO) course
(can include WHMIS and Set Etiquette)OR- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate, and
- MPIO course
**Please provide a photocopy of certificate(s).
- $85 Administration fee*
- Additional $25 if applying for a 2nd department
- Signed Bargaining Authorization – original signature required
- Minimum 30 verifiable days worked on professional made-for-television productions or feature films in the position you are applying for.
*The $85 fee is an administration fee to process your application. This is not a guarantee that you will be accepted as a member. Should your application not be complete, or should you not meet the required minimum standards, your application will be held until all minimum requirements are met and you will be able to request re-application in the same department at a later date without charges.
Completed applications are submitted to the Council at any Council meeting (about 10 times per year). Once you have been approved, your membership status will be that of PERMITTEE. Permittees’ names and contact numbers are included on availability lists sent from the union office to ACFC West signatory productions for the position requested by a production. You should promote yourself to ACFC West productions by emailing or dropping off your resume to the production offices.
